 JOB SUMMARY:

The Elementary Afterschool, Site Coordinator (SC) is 100% dedicated to one elementary school site location and is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the 21CCLC Afterschool program under the direction of the Senior Program Director. The SC is committed to quality and provides leadership, supervision; coaching and support to program staff to ensure desired program goals and outcomes are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The Afterschool program Site Coordinator must have the competencies, skills and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission and 21CCLC Grant guidelines, goals and vision for serving the community. Other important responsibilities include the following:

  1. Administers the day-to-day operation of the Afterschool program, ensuring compliance with the prescribed fidelity and quality markers.
  2. Helps hire or designates, supervises, and coaches teaching staff, enrichment leaders, and volunteers.
  3. In partnership with the school staff, promotes program and student recruitment to ensure targeted population and optimal enrollment.
  4. Maintains on-going communication and collaboration with supervisor, appropriate Y staff, school’s administration, and community partners to successfully implement the program.
  5. Prepares program schedule and plans for snacks and meals.
  6. Evaluates program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses according to 21 CCLC grant and Y-USA measurement and evaluation guidelines.
  7. Ensures timely reporting to 21 CCLC Grant and Y-USA measurement and evaluation requirements.
  8. Assists in developing and monitoring the program’s budget and supplies.
  9. Plans and conducts orientation and workshops to engage parents/caregivers.
  10. Provides ongoing communication with the parents/caregivers.
  11. Attends required trainings and participates in support calls as needed. (webinars)
  12. Collects and shares “Bright Spots” – stories of impact from your program monthly.
  13. Develops relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate the goals of the Afterschool and ongoing concerns about student needs.
  14. Upholds and exemplifies the YMCA’s Core Values and principles of Character Development.
  15. Helps to maintain the Before and After school paperwork and payments. Also records required information into EZReports, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Prefer a Bachelor’s degree related to youth development or education.
  2. Must have a minimum of four years of relevant experience working with children in an educational setting including at least two years in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision making ability.
  3. Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
  4. Must be a positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.
  5. Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program related, and supervisory responsibilities of the Elementary Afterschool Program.
  6. Demonstrate a working knowledge of YMCA mission, purpose and goals, childcare policies and YMCA standards; ensures the program meets the highest standards of excellence.

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE:

School Year: Mon – Fri: 2.5 hours daily after school-Positions at Paragon, Poston, Smith, South and Brooklyn Elementary Schools (1 at each location)

School Year: Mon – Thurs: 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Summer Session: Two weeks, 5 days/week, 4 hours/day   8 am – Noon

21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER-AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

REPORTS TO: YMCA Program Director

JOB SUMMARY: The Lead Teacher provides overall coordination of afterschool and summer learning activities at a designated middle school. This will include academic instruction and remediation with a strong emphasis on reading comprehension and mathematics. They will be responsible for planning and leading computer based learning programs, working as a team with other staff members to involve all students. The Lead Teacher serves as a liaison between school staff and Y staff, communicating important information and ensuring that afterschool academics mirror individual student needs. They will work closely with the Program Director, Site Coordinator and school and site staff to assure that all academic enrichment activities are implemented and all core measures are collected and reported in accordance with all 21st CCLC grant guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified teacher
  • Demonstrated ability to work with young adolescents, especially those who are academically at-risk
  • Demonstrated ability to provide instruction that is engaging, creative and motivational
  • Ability to work with, and train others in, the use of computer based learning tools
  • Ability to interact effectively with parents, staff, school personnel and the broader community
  • Ability to function well as a team leader and member
  • Ability to enforce rules, safety policies, procedures and practices 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize computer based programs to ensure all students are receiving instruction appropriate for their specific needs and abilities.
  • Plan computer based instruction and train assisting staff (primary curriculums: Skills Tutor and Think Through Math)
  • Provide direct instruction to a small group of students and assign staff to additional groups of students
  • Participate in quarterly staff meetings and parent feedback sessions (twice per year ), as planned
  • Work with Site Coordinator to ensure that site staff and program activities comply with all MSD Martinsville and YMCA rules, policies and procedures
  • Assure that all core measures are collected and reported in compliance with Indiana Dept of Education standards and deadlines
  • Assist in the coordination of student snacks and transportation at the conclusion of all academic sessions

 ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE:

School Year: Mon – Thurs: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Summer Session: Two weeks, 5 days/wk, 4 hrs/day   8 am – Noon

Additional planning and training time as scheduled 

JOB SHARE POSSIBILITIES:

With the agreement to work closely and collaboratively, two individuals could share the same school site on a Mon, Wed and Tue, Thur schedule. Summer responsibilities can be similarly shared.

JOB SUMMARY: The Project 2-1 Aide will assist the Site Coordinator and Lead Teacher in the supervision and instruction of middle school students at their school, the YMCA and various other community venues. Typical daily activities will include: assisting with computer based academic instruction, supervising students during an afterschool snack period, coordinating student transportation, and leading or assisting with a variety of creative learning and/or recreational activities.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with young adolescents, especially those who are academically at-risk
  • Ability to interact effectively with parents, staff, school personnel and the broader community
  • Ability to function well as a team member
  • Ability to enforce rules, safety policies, procedures and practices
  • Ability to work with computers including web based learning and reporting tools
  • Prior recreational or similar youth leadership experience
  • High energy, positive role model, willing to be actively engaged with students throughout all program  activities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the direction of the Lead Teacher, assist with computer based academic instruction daily
  • Work with Site Coordinator to coordinate student afterschool snacks
  • Work with staff team to coordinate student transportation to the YMCA and other community sites
  • Provide direct leadership for small group activities which may include: sports, fitness and recreation; hands-on science, arts activities, outdoor education, drug abuse prevention, community service, and other enrichment opportunities
  • Assist with record keeping tasks such as student attendance, progress reports, etc…
  • Assist with the minimal housekeeping and daily clean-up of facilities
  • Participate in staff training events, as assigned
  • Participate in family strengthening activities, as assigned

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE:

School Year: Mon – Thurs: 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Summer Session: Two weeks, 5 days/wk, 4 hrs/day   8 am – Noon
